If you are a home owner, and you have equity in your home, then get refianced first.

Lenders see credit councling the same as chapter 13. They will take thier fees first before your debt is applaied and will not make your payments on time. As a rule of thumb scores drop 75-100 points the second to you to a counclor.

You should get it from ALL THREE. Each agency is different ans not all of them have the same stuff. One agency might have all good stuff and another may have one negative thing or mistakes. Always check all three because when applying for credit you never know which company the creditor pulls from. Keep up with all three.

The three major credit bureaus are:

1. Equifax – http://www.equifax.com/
2. Experian – http://www.experian.com/
3. TransUnion – http://www.transunion.com/

By law, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) now requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies (listed above) to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months. For more information, read “Facts for Consumers: Your Access to Free Credit Reports” at FTC.gov.

There are three ways to obtain a Free Credit Report under the FCRA:

1. Visit AnnualCreditReport.com (the only authorized site to fill orders for the free annual credit report you are entitled to under law)
2. Call 1-877-322-8228 and request your free credit report
3. Complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/include/requestformfinal.pdf) and mail it to:
